Reportedly, French President Macron admits: It is absolutely true that in Marseille, as elsewhere, there were not enough security forces on October 17. We had not anticipated what happened at all. We had not anticipated that so many far-left extremist groups would mobilize very early in the morning, in a very unusual way. We had not anticipated that, beyond this far-left mobilization, criminal elements would also join in. So the police forces were not deployed in sufficient numbers.
